Meet the New Cloudist: Redesigned Play and Watch Apps

Cloudist Play (music) and Cloudist Watch (video) have a new look. Cloudist Play 1.0.31 and Cloudist Watch 1.0.24 bring a calmer, library-first design to both apps, plus favorites, playback speed, Play all and Shuffle, a sleep timer for videos and more control over playback. Here is what changed.

A Calmer, Cleaner Design

The goal was simple: less chrome, more of your library.

  • Flat lists — songs and videos sit in clean rows separated by a thin line, instead of a separate card for every row
  • One accent color — a single accent ties the interface together, and every app theme picks up the new styling
  • Left-aligned page titles — each tab opens with a clear title, with connection status and Settings in the corner
  • Softer search — a new search field, and in Play, filter chips on the Tracks screen: All, Downloaded, Favorites and one chip per connected account
  • A new mini player — rounded top corners and a thin progress line along the top, sitting above a redesigned navigation bar
  • Sidebar on wide screens — on the web and on wide windows, the bottom tabs become a sidebar with your library tabs, Cloud accounts, Settings and your profile, plus a player bar that stays at the bottom of the window

New Player Screens

Cloudist Play's Now Playing screen was rebuilt. The background takes a soft tint from the cover art, the title block is left-aligned with a heart button and a Downloaded indicator, and a large play button sits under a cleaner seek bar. A small "Playing from" label at the top tells you whether the queue came from an album, an artist, a playlist, a folder or your search. Equalizer, Sleep timer, Speed and Queue share one row at the bottom.

Cloudist Watch's player keeps the video front and center. Under it you get the title with the folder it lives in, small chips for the cloud account, download status and file size, and a row with Speed, Subtitles, Picture-in-Picture and the new Sleep timer. Up next is now a simple list with the current video highlighted. When a video picks up where you left off, a short "Resumed from" notice tells you where.

Redesigned Library

  • Albums (Play) — clean square covers in a grid, with the album and artist name underneath
  • Artists (Play) — a list with round artist images and album and song counts
  • Playlists — every playlist gets a 2×2 cover mosaic; Watch uses 16:9 video thumbnails
  • Folders — a tappable breadcrumb at the top shows the account and path, so you can jump back to any level in one tap

New Features in Both Apps

Favorites

Tap the heart on the player to save a song or video. In Cloudist Play your favorites get their own Favorites smart playlist next to Recently played, Most played and Recently added, newest first. In Cloudist Watch they appear at the top of the Playlists tab. Both apps also add a Favorites chip to the Tracks or Videos list. Favorites work offline and are included in backup and restore.

Play All and Shuffle

Albums, artists, playlists and folders now have Play all and Shuffle buttons. In Cloudist Watch they work on playlists (including Favorites) and on the videos in a folder.

Redesigned Settings

Settings now opens with a profile row showing your photo (or your initials), name and email, with a Sign out button right there. Backup and Restore are now right in Settings, with a "Last backup" note. They work exactly as before, just easier to reach.

Storage Overview

The Storage page (not available on the web) now shows how much space Cloudist uses on your device, split into Downloads, Cover art (Play) or Thumbnails (Watch), and Cache. A new Clear cache button removes temporary files only; your downloads, artwork and library stay put.

In Cloudist Play, tap an account to see every downloaded song and remove one or all of them. In Cloudist Watch, each account's downloaded videos can be expanded right on the Storage page.

44 Languages

Both apps now speak 44 languages, up from 12, from English, Spanish and Chinese to Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Vietnamese, with right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Hebrew and Urdu.

What's New in Cloudist Play

  • Playback speed — choose 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x or 2x from the Now Playing screen. Your speed is remembered between sessions. The control is turned off while casting, since the receiver can't change speed.
  • Album and artist sorting — sort by name, number of songs or recently added, saved separately for Albums and Artists.
  • A–Z index for artists — when artists are sorted by name, an alphabet strip on the edge of the screen lets you tap or drag straight to a letter.
  • Equalizer "Reset to flat" — the redesigned equalizer gets a one-tap button to undo all your tweaks.

What's New in Cloudist Watch

Sleep Timer

Fall asleep to a movie without leaving it running all night. Pick 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or End of video, and Cloudist Watch pauses playback for you. The remaining minutes show on the player button.

Playback Preferences

Settings → Playback Options gains new controls so the player works the way you watch:

  • Autoplay next — play the next video when one ends, or stop instead
  • Default speed — start every video at 0.5x to 2x
  • Skip interval — 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds, used by the skip buttons and double-tap seek
  • Double tap to seek — keep it, or turn it off
  • Keep screen awake while a video plays (not on the web, where the browser handles this)
  • Picture-in-Picture when you leave the app — on by default, and you can turn it off (Android)
